I used to be an incredibly active person, riding and keeping horses, riding a motorcycle, and walking the dogs in the beautiful countryside where I live.
Unfortunately, my life took a dramatic turn when I had to have major spine surgery in December 2020. Becoming disabled was not a situation in which I ever expected to be. After a long recovery and acquiring a chronic pain condition called Fibromyalgia, along with depression, I knew I had to do something to give my life purpose.
After starting out colouring with pencils and then making greetings cards, I progressed to creating art.
It has given me back a sense of purpose, freedom and independence. Creating art has literally set my spirit free - hence my artistic name. I can lose myself in my art when I'm in the creative flow and I can produce art I never dreamed I was capable of. We really don't know what turns life will take; I for one never imagined I would become an artist!
The majority of the time I start painting with no end goal. I work intuitively and am guided in the moment by what I'm feeling and what I feel the painting needs.

The majority of the time I start painting with no end goal. I work intuitively and am guided in the moment by what I'm feeling and what I feel the painting needs.
My art is impulsive and is authentically me. It's a representation of my thoughts and feelings at that moment in time that are expressed through my work. Having said that, tiny sparks of inspiration can come from anywhere, like a conversation, something I've seen on TV or read in a book, or even the landscape around me. Sometimes I just get an idea out of nowhere and off I go. I mainly work with acrylics and mixed media, which is usually acrylic-based, for example, the pastes I use for texture in my work.
I absolutely adore working with raised texture! I have produced a number of pieces using a variety of textured media, from embossed metal sheet to crackle paste, glass beads and others. If I can use texture you can touch and feel for the sensory impact, I will. I feel it helps to bring my art to life.
It's my desire that my art excites and appeals to others who feel they can identify with how I express myself through my art.
Here is some feedback people have used to describe my work...
"...Delightful..."
"...Inspiring..."
"...Blissful..."
"...Skilful..."
"...Unique..."
"...Evokes emotion..."
"...Capable of lighting up someone's spirit"
